Important workshop notes

A few things worth knowing before your workshop.

A short, honest summary of how the studio runs so you can plan with confidence. If something here is a deal-breaker, flag it in your enquiry and we'll let you know whether the space will work for your session.

Set-up & pack-down

Both sit inside your booked time. Tables are on wheels and chairs move easily, so the room is yours to arrange — please allow time to reset before you leave.

First-time hirers

New hirers run a short induction with the studio director before the first booking, so the space and your plans land well together.

Capacity

The room comfortably holds 10–16 adults depending on activity. Hands-on art & craft sessions sit best around 10; seated or discussion-led formats can run closer to 16.

Office not included

The studio space is yours; the office at the front is not part of the hire.

Messy materials

Paint, clay, ink, glue and dyes are welcome. No high-toxic fumes (e.g. strong turps), and no open flames, candles, incense or smoke.

Catering & alcohol

External catering and drinks are welcome. Alcohol may be allowed after a short induction with the studio director. Food and drink packages can be arranged on request, charged per head based on group size — mention catering in your enquiry and we'll send pricing for your group.

Children's workshops

We're not currently accepting children's workshops. The studio is set up for adult sessions.

Public liability & insurance

Hirers are not covered by Studio on Brunswick's insurance. We strongly recommend you carry your own professional indemnity and public liability cover for your session.

Upstairs, not wheelchair accessible

Booking process

Five small steps from first contact to workshop.

We review every booking individually so each workshop feels right for the space and the people in it. We aim to respond within 48 hours.

01

Start your way

If you'd like to talk it through with Lyne first, send an enquiry — no date needed. Or pick a date and time and reserve the slot directly if you're ready.

02

Lyne reviews fit & availability

Every booking gets a personal review. First-time hirers will have a quick induction with Lyne so the space and your plans land well together.

03

Deposit & bond secure the date

Once you reserve, a 50% deposit and $100 bond hold your booking. Both are fully refundable if Lyne can't confirm, so you're never out of pocket if it's not a fit. Returning hirers and inner-circle members skip the bond.

04

Balance 7 days before

The remaining 50% is auto-charged to the same card 7 days before your session.

05

Bond returned after

Your $100 bond is released within 5 business days of your session, assuming the studio is left in good order. Returning hirers and inner-circle members skip this step (no bond required).

Frequently asked questions

Questions answered.

If anything else comes up, mention it in your enquiry. We'd rather talk it through than have you guess.

How many people can the studio fit?

The studio comfortably suits 10–16 adults, depending on activity and layout. Hands-on art or craft sessions with larger materials are usually best around 10. Discussion or seated workshops can run closer to 16.

What kinds of workshops are a good fit?

Most of our hirers run small, considered workshops: art and craft sessions, writing and journaling circles, small creative-business workshops, painting nights, and recurring facilitator series. The room is built for intimate, private sessions, not large events or party hire.

Are children's workshops allowed?

We aren't currently accepting children's workshops. The studio is set up for adult sessions.

Can we use messy materials?

Paint, clay, ink, glue and dyes are welcome. Let us know what you're planning in your enquiry. We don't allow high-toxic fumes such as strong turps.

Is alcohol allowed?

External catering and drinks are welcome. Alcohol may be allowed after a short induction or approval from the studio director. Get in touch and we'll talk it through.

Is catering available?

Yes — platters can be arranged on request, charged per head based on group size. Mention catering in your enquiry and we'll send pricing aligned to your group.

Is parking available nearby?

Yes. Fortitude Valley has on-street parking and several paid lots within a short walk. A loading zone on McLachlan St, right outside the studio building, is available for moving materials in and out. We'll share specific parking guidance with you ahead of your booking.

Is setup and pack-down included in the booked time?

Yes. Both setup and pack-down happen inside your booked time. Hirers move and reset furniture themselves.

Can I book recurring sessions?

Yes, we welcome recurring workshop hosts. Mention your planned cadence in your enquiry and Lyne will be in touch to talk through what works best for your series.

Do I need my own insurance?

Hirers are not covered by Studio on Brunswick's insurance. We strongly recommend you carry your own professional indemnity and public liability cover for your session — most facilitators running paid workshops already do.

Can I drop things off early or collect after the session?

This can usually be arranged depending on availability. Mention it in your enquiry and we'll talk it through with Lyne.

Is cleaning included? What happens with the bond?

Basic hirer clean-up (always included): wash and dry the dishes, take rubbish to the provided bags/bins, wipe down obvious spills, return furniture to its original position, and remove all your own materials, decorations and personal items.

$100 bond: applies to first-time hirers, held with your booking and refunded after the session once the studio is returned in good order. The bond may be used for damage, missing items, excess rubbish or additional cleaning beyond the basic hirer clean-up. Returning hirers and inner-circle members skip the bond.

Is the studio wheelchair accessible?

No. The studio is upstairs and is not wheelchair accessible. Please let us know any access needs in your enquiry so we can be upfront with you.

What is the cancellation policy?

A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking. This deposit becomes non-refundable once Lyne accepts the booking — it reserves the studio, covers administration and preparation time, and compensates the studio for holding the space unavailable to other hirers. The remaining balance is automatically charged 7 days before your booking.

More than 21 days before your booking: any amount paid beyond the 50% deposit may be refunded. The 50% deposit remains non-refundable.

Within 21 days of the booking: generally non-refundable. Where possible, Studio on Brunswick may offer one reschedule subject to availability, but this is not guaranteed.

Within 7 days of the booking: not refundable, and any reschedule is at Studio on Brunswick's discretion.

No-shows: non-refundable.

If Studio on Brunswick cancels: in the unlikely event we have to cancel your booking, you'll be offered the earliest available reschedule date or a full refund of all amounts paid (including the deposit).

All cancellation and reschedule requests must be emailed to adminsb@studioonbrunswick.com.au.

This policy does not limit any rights a hirer may have under Australian Consumer Law.
